Details about our work
Our research focus is towards development of better treatment modalities for cancer. As an organic chemist, I have been working in the interdisciplinary area of chemistry and biology. I have collaborated and worked with different groups to detect Ocular cancer (retinoblastoma), non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and breast cancer.
For the master students research project, the synthetic problem revolves around green chemistry. It is ironic that being an organic chemist, I am trying to optimise reactions by avoiding organic solvents. On a serious note, environmental pollution due to organic solvents (mainly from the industrial sector) is a burning issue. To mitigate this, as a responsible citizen we are working on developing important synthetic reactions under aqueous conditions. (You can see the media coverage here).
